واشنطن (رويترز) - قال باحثون ان كويكبا اكتشف حديثا له مدار طويل حول الشمس ربما يساعد في تفسير منشأ المذنبات.
وبدأ الجسيم الذي يعرف باسم (2006اس كيو 372) الدوران في الجزء الخارجي من مدار يستغرق قطعه 22500 عام مما سيبعده عن الشمس 240 مليار كيلومتر.
وقال الباحثون أمام ندوة علمية يوم الاثنين ان هذا الكويكب وهو كتلة صخرية جليدية يقع على بعد أكثر من ثلاثة مليارات كيلومتر من الارض أي أقرب قليلا من الكوكب نبتون. وسينشر الباحثون نتائجهم في دورية ( الفيزياء الفلكية). وقال أندرو بيكر الذي أشرف على فريق البحث ان مدار الكويكب بيضاوي الشكل وطوله يساوي أربعة أمثال عرضه. ويعد الكوكب القزم ( سدنا) البعيد الذي يشبه بلوتو واكتشف عام 2003 الجسيم الوحيد الذي له مدار مماثل لكنه مع هذا لا يكاد يقارب طوله.
ويبلغ قطر الجسيم الجديد مئة كيلومتر. وقال بيكر في بيان "انه في الاساس مذنب لكنه لا يقترب أبدا بما يكفي من الشمس ليكون ذيلا طويلا ولامعا من الغاز المتبخر والغبار."
وقال طالب الدراسات العليا بجامعة واشنطن ناثان كايب انه من غير الواضح كيف تكون الكويكب. وقال في بيان "ربما تكون مثل بلوتو في حزام الحطام الجليدي بعد نبتون ثم ألقي به مسافة كبيرة بفعل جاذبية بينه وبين نبتون وأورانس."
وقال ان الارجح من ذلك أنه جاء من سحابة أورت وهي مستودع بعيد لجسيمات جليدية تشبه الكويكبات تدور حول الشمس على بعد مسافات تصل الى عدة تريليونات من الكيلومترات.
وقال كايب "أحد أهدافنا أن نفهم أصل المذنبات التي هي من أكثر الحوادث السماوية روعة. لكن الهدف الاعمق هو النظر في التاريخ القديم لمجموعتنا الشمسية وفهم ما الذي كان يجري عندما تكونت الكواكب."
