أوباما يتخلى عن مشروع "العودة الى القمر" طباعة أرسل

ألغى الرئيس الامريكي باراك اوباما مشروع "كونستليشن" لعودة الامريكيين الى القمر" بحلول 2020، وذلك خلال اعلانه عن مشروع الميزانية لعام 2011 امام الكونغرس.
وقال اوباما ان المشروع "مكلف جدا، اضافة الى كونه متأخرا وفاقدا للابتكار." واكد اوباما ان المشروع "يبتلع" موارد مشاريع وانشطة اخرى تعمل عليها وكالة الفضاء الامريكية.
وقال مدير السياسات العلمية والتكنولوجية بالبيت الابيض جيم كولنبيرغر:"نحن نلغي المشاريع لكننا لا نلغي طموحاتنا."
واضاف: "هذه ليست خطوة الى الوراء، بل كانت لتكون خطوة الى الوراء لو نحن اردنا اعادة الهبوط على القمر كما فعلنا منذ 40 عاما وبالطرق التي استخدمناها حينئذ بدل تغيير خططنا واساليبنا الى تقنيات بامكانها ايصالنا الى هناك اسرع وبتكلفة اقل." ولقي قرار الغاء مشروع "كونستليسن" أو "الكوكبة" انتقادا فوريا من شخصيات في الكونغرس تمثل العاملين في القطاع."
ومن المتوقع ان يطالب النواب الذين يمثلون ولايات ألاباما وفلوريدا وتكساس، وهي الولايات الثلاث التي لها المصلحة الأكبر في استمرار مشروع "الكوكبة" هذا، بالحصول على ضمانات تتعلق بمستقبل القوى العاملة لديها في المشروع.
ودشن الرئيس السابق جورج بوش في 2004 برنامج "كونستيليشن" بعد كارثة المركبة كولومبيا في 2003.
وانفقت الناسا حتى الآن تسعة مليارات دولار على البرنامج من بينها 5.3 مليارات لتطوير صاروخ "اريس 1".
كما خططت الوكالة لتطوير المركبة اوريون لنقل رواد الفضاء، التي تشبه المركبة ابولو التي استخدمت للهبوط على سطح القمر عام 1969.

آثار محيط ضخم في المريخ
أعلن علماء في جامعة نورثرن ألينوي الأميركية اكتشاف آثار تدل على وجود محيط هائل كانت تتلاطم أمواجه في المريخ ويغطي معظم أجزاء هذا الكوكب الأحمر منذ مليارات السنين.
وقد أعد العلماء الباحثون خريطة جديدة على الحاسوب مستقاة من صور التقطتها المركبات الفضائية توضح وجود بقايا أنهار كانت تتدفق من المرتفعات الجنوبية في المريخ وتصب في بحر هائل في الكوكب.
وتشير الأدلة إلى أن الكثير من مناطق المريخ شهدت في بعض المراحل مناخا قاريا قاحلا شبيها بالمناطق الأكثر جفافا على وجه الأرض، مما يعزز النظرية القائلة بأن المياه كانت موجودة على سطحه في السابق وبأن الأمطار كانت تهطل بانتظام، وهذا ما يعزز احتمال وجود حياة على هذا الكوكب.
ويقول البروفيسور واي ليو -الذي شارك في إعداد الدراسة التي نشرت في دورية البحوث الجيوفيزيائية- إن كل الدلائل تشير إلى وجود مناخ خاص في المراحل الأولى لنشوء المريخ مما يعني احتمال سقوط أمطار ووجود محيط غطى النصف الشمالي من هذا الكوكب.
