قررت شركة مايكروسوفت منح مواطني الاتحاد الاوروبي حرية الاختيار بين متصفحها على الانترنت أو اي متصفح آخر.
وبدءا من اليوم ستسأل الشركة، المتخصصة في مجال البرمجيات، ملايين الاوروبيين من مستخدمي برامجها ما إذا كانوا يرغبون في مواصلة استعمال متصفحها "إنترنت إكسبلورر" أم لا.
وتأتي هذه الخطوة كجزء من اتفاق وقعته الشركة مع المفوضية الاوروبية.
ويوفر الاتفاق حلا لنزاع طويل الامد كان الاتحاد الاوروبي يتهم فيه عملاق البرمجيات بإساءة استغلال هيمنتها على السوق عن طريق دمج نظام التصفح الخاص بها وهو إنترنت إكسبلورر مع أنظمة التشغيل "ويندوز" المهيمنة في الأسواق. وستوفر مايكروسفت برنامجا امام المستخدمين بالاتحاد الاوروبي يتيح لهم الاختيار من بين 12 متصفحا مختلفا أو مواصلة تشغيل متصفح مايكروسوفت "إنترنت إكسبلورر".
وسيتم تقديم برنامج الاختيار من بين المتصفحات في اطار نظام تحديث الويندوز الذي تطرحه مايكرسوفت بشكل دوري.
وعلى الرغم من ان التحديث الخاص بخيار المتصفحات اعد خصيصا لمستخدمي نظم "ويندوز إكس بي" و"ويندوز 7" و"ويندوز فيستا"، فلن يتمكن من رؤيته كل المستخدمين.
فسيظهر هذا الخيار امام اولئك المستخدمين الذين يستخدمون بالفعل متصفحات مثل فايرفوكس، وسفاري أو كروم.
الا انه من المؤكد ان التحديث الجديد سيظهر امام المستخدمين الذين يستخدمون متصفح إنترنت إكسبلورر، والذين اتخذوا خيار السماح ليندوز بتحميل وتثبيت التحديثات تلقائيا.
وكانت مفوضية الاتحاد الاوروبي قد اتهمت مايكروسوفت العام الماضي بالسعي لإحباط المنافسين عن طريق دمج نظام التصفح اكسبلورر مع نظام التشغيل ويندوز وجعله اجباريا، مما يضر بالابتكار ويحد من الخيارات المتاحة أمام المستهلك.
وجاء هذا الاتهام نتيجة شكوى من شركة نرويجية تقوم بانتاج متصفح أوبرا المنافس.
وفرضت المفوضية غرامات بلغ مجموعها 1.68 مليار يورو (2.44 مليار دولار) على الشركة الأمريكية العملاقة لانتهاكها قواعد مكافحة الاحتكار في الاتحاد الأوروبي،
ويسيطر متصفح مايكروسوفت إنترنت إكسبلورر على نحو 56 في المائة من الاستخدام العالمي للإنترنت، بينما يسيطر متصفح موزيلا فايرفوكس على حوالي 32 في المائة، وأوبرا 2 في المائة فقط.

واشنطن - يعتزم علماء أميركيون الاستعانة بالصراصير بغرض بناء أول نماذج آلية يمكنها المشي بسرعة كبيرة في الأراضي الوعرة، والذين يتوقع الإفادة منها في تنفيذ مهمات شاقة في العديد من المجالات.
ويرى العلماء وهم باحثون من جامعة ولاية اوريغون الأميركية أن الصراصير يمكن أن تكون مصدر إلهام لهم في سعيهم لبناء أول آليين (روبوتات) بأرجل في العالم، يمتلكون القدرة على التحرك بسرعة في الأراضي الوعرة، فهم يعتقدون بأن الصراصير، والتي يثير مظهرها اشمئزاز الكثيرين، تمثل أعجوبة هندسية بيولوجية فريدة.
